how this works
Welcome to the 'alternate universe' section of the site! Before you can start roleplaying, we'll go through a few quick things you need to know. Here you can read information about the official and non-offical Clans & Tribes of the site, and I've written down a few guidelines to help you. I hope have fun roleplaying in here. =D
Ⅰ. A QUICK INTRODUCTION TO ROLEPLAYING
I'm sure we all know what roleplaying is and there is also an official guide to roleplaying [which can be found in the Library], but I'll go through this nonetheless. Roleplaying is when you write about a character from its point of view and have it interact with other people's characters.
EXAMPLE
Examplepaw walked up to Samplename. "Hi." he greeted the warrior.
Examplepaw walked up to Samplename. "Hi." he greeted the warrior.
After you have written your post, the other person should reply using their character.
Samplename turned to the young apprentice. "Hey." he replied. "Shouldn't you be training with your mentor?"
And so on. You can play as many characters as you like, as long as they're yours. As an example, the roleplayer of Examplepaw may not reply using Samplename because Samplename belongs to his creator and no one else.
If you are looking for longer, more in-depth posts, you can always try the developed boards. Before you can access those, however, you need to create a developed character and write its bio. There are certain requirements for it getting accepted-- you can find more about them in the 'alternate universe-characters' part. =) Developed roleplaying follows the same principles and rules as normal roleplaying; the only difference is that more effort is put into posts and characters are oftentimes more interesting and developed.
If you have any further questions, please use our Help section or PM a staff member.
Ⅱ. 'ALTERNATE UNIVERSE'-- WHAT IT IS, HOW IT WORKS
As stated in our News section, this site is not an AU [alternate universe]. In the main part of the site, you can only roleplay the characters that are in the Warriors Books by Erin Hunter in the Clans that are also in the books.
In this part of the site, however, it's like the territories, Clans and characters in the books never existed. It's a new world, a different universe. Thus the name.
You can create a character (remember, characters in the alternate universe sections can not meet, be related to or know any characters from the Warriors series) in our 'alternate universe- characters' section (your bio must be accepted before you can start roleplaying!) or just jump right in!
If you have any questions about the workings of this section, please PM me or use our Help section. =)
Ⅲ. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FANCLANS AND OFFICIAL CLANS
They are two very different things.
A FanClan or FanTribe is a Clan or Tribe in the alternate universe section which is not official. You can create a FanClan or Tribe anytime you wish and create as many as you like (as long as you can handle them). Anyone can join them, and members usually have two separate threads (or more): one for sign-ups and one for roleplaying.
An Official Clan or Tribe has its own board with sub-boards for the Leader's Den, Medicine Cat's Den etc. Anyone can jump in with random or created characters (as long as they belong to them; again, people may not play others's characters) and create roleplay threads. Remember that those boards are meant for roleplaying, so no chatting! If you have to say something that has nothing to do with the roleplay, write "OOC: whatyouwanttosayhere" so people understand that it's not related to the roleplay and don't get confused (this counts for FanClans & Tribes too =)).
For a FanClan or Tribe to go official, it needs to have five thousand [5 000/5k] roleplay posts in it, at least two [2] months of activity and should follow all rules. Once a FanClan or Tribe has fulfilled those requirements, the person who plays the leader should notify a staff member.
Any questions should be asked in the Help section.
Ⅳ. GUIDELINES
A few simple guidelines/steps to get roleplaying in the alternate universe section!
First, I suggest creating a cat, although this is completely optional. You can try writing a developed bio if you feel you have the skills, but that is completely up to you! You can also adopt someone else's character if you wish and if there are any up for adoption, or just jump right into the roleplay. Have a look at the rules as well, so you don't get in trouble!
Afterwards, there are different possibilities. You can either join a FanClan/Tribe, start roleplaying in the official Clans & Tribes, or go for it and create one yourself!
When you think you've gained a fair bit of experience, I recommend writing a developed bio so you can roleplay in the developed boards. Go create a few interesting plots, make a few nice characters and you're sure to have lots of fun on here!
If there is anything you don't understand, don't hesitate to PM us or ask questions in the Help section. =D
